It was the end of an era as the ALPHA-X shutdown operations in the SILIS Colville Building labs ahead of its re-location into SCAPA. Last electron beams were produced on 26th February 2016, almost 9 years to the day after first operations.
Later on in 2017, the ALPHA-X Beam Line will re-commence experiments in Bunker C of SCAPA (beam line C2), driven by the 40 TW Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser system.
Here’s to many more years of success!
